Script & Seal Red Wine 2007
Script & Seal
Red Blend
13.9% alcohol
No idea if this is Dusted Valley or not. Was also told this was a Bordeaux blend, but this may also be a Syrah blend? In other words, it is what it is.
Pop and Pour: The color is a see through dark red mixed with some purple. See through even in center. Nose shows red fruit, cranberry and raspberry. Alcohol does show. Muted wood tines, more of an older wood. Forest and smoldering wood. Hints of bitterness. On the palate, there is a slight cream sensation. Spice explodes on the back palate. Red fruit. Bitterness translates on mid paalte. Okay front, mid palate needs help, finish explodes with flavor. Cherries and red raspberries mixed with spice on the finish. Long lasting finish. The spice is more black pepper than cinnamon. Mild cocoa wants to come through. There is quite a bit of heat. This is CLEARLY not an expensive wine. There are come glaring faults, but this is supposed to be a VALUE wine, at least I hope that was the aim. I am not blown away, but I did not pay a lot for this wine either
Fast Forward: 1 Hour 30 Minutes. Acid shows more. Good red fruit. Blend of cranberry (tart), cherry (more round), and red raspberry. Fun wine, not life changing. Good weekday wine. Long finish. Good concentration. Still shows some delish factor. Pronounced spice from ¾ through finish. Mild tannin. Seems better now than it did from Pop and Pour. Give this wine an EASY hour to get going. As I am writing this, cherry pops full of flavor. Fresh picked and ripe. Almost tasting stem and wanting to spit the seed.
Overall: I, unlike many other people, didn’t mind this wine at all. I found it full of fruit and EASY. I do not expect a wine to change my world at $10-$15. At $13 I just want a drink to fill in the blanks. I do not have a glass of wine, oh look Script & Seal is there. I did not find it offensive in Fast Forward. Early on, I can see the holes and issues, but wine is all about CONTEXT. In Script & Seals context, look for red fruit, spice, and some heat issues. There are worse things, NOT having wine at all. I am making light, but to be honest, my notes are pretty high on this wine in a SIMPLE DELISH kind of way. Keeping CONTEXT ($) in mind, I am okay with this wine being OKAY. AVERAGE, not terrible.
